We want to ensure your yoga and sailing experience is as smooth as possible! Please note that travel planning and pricing for your arrival at the sailing marina – your designated port of departure – are not handled by us. This means that you’ll be responsible for arranging these details on your own. However, we will give you some tipps and best practices to get everything organised.

It's important to clarify that we are not a tour operator, so we’re not liable for the overall fulfilment of each individual service included in the whole trip. When you book our services, you enter into agreements with Yoga&Sail IKE. Where we function as an educator and consultant, supply crew services and other related services, for example:

- Skipper services

- Chef or hosting services

- local knowledge and guidance

- restaurant booking assistance

- grocery shopping

- and more

Furthermore we will function as a charter broker agency, helping to initiate the yacht charter contract by connecting you with the yacht owner or their management (a third party) with whom you will sign the charter agreement. We can be mandated by you to sign the charter contract on your behalf. The yacht charter contract will be governed by the terms and conditions of that third party. Yoga&Sail IKE tries to assist with managing payments on behalf of the signatories if needed. For more details and specifics about our services, please refer to our Terms and Conditions.

A typical Day

at a Yoga and Sail retreat

Journal 1

We would wake up half an hour before sunrise, to get ready for the meditation in the morning. Not everyone of the group would participate, since it's a bit early. Welcoming the day in this way, sitting on the deck, surrounded by the sea, is magical! As usual, Phil the chef, prepared a breakfast buffet. After a bite I'd go for a nap again ;P - letting the waves taking care of lullabying me to sleep again. It was unusual in the beginning - a huge rocking crib. Later would read my book on deck, enjoying the cruise to the next bay and the fruit snacks along the afternoon. The anchorage was gorgeous. In the evening we would set over to the shore for the Yoga-Practice. The sun wouldn’t be too strong and the practice felt smooth and right. Meanwhile, Phil prepared dinner - it was an amazing day.

Journal 2

"In daily alternation a yoga or a handstand course would take place on the shore, usually at high noon or shortly after. Temperatures in May were perfect for the practice. This week we had a rainy but warm day and this was a good opportunity to focus on other topics - having 1on1 conversations and how-to's on technique weak spots of each individually. I saw everyone improving drastically in this week, physically and spiritually. We would, by default, get a light breakfast buffet in the morning, with overnight-oats quinoa and fruits. After our noon practice, the hostess would prepare fresh greens - and fish for whoever opted for it. Most evenings we spend anchored in bays, the rest in different Marinas. The rooms fitted our needs, the space inside and on deck was great. (text has been shortened)

Journal 3

It's the second day, I nearly forgot the little hectic arrival at the Marina. But we made it - and we are there, happy and calm again. In the morning we had a Yoga-Session on deck, our teacher split the group of eight into four and four, to have more space for the hatha session. Even though it was an impressively huge catamaran, I appreciated the additional space. I was in the second group, so I used the time to sit at the steering wheel, get lost in the horizon and the reflections of the sun. After the session we would have a light breakfast together and go snorkelling along the shore. In the afternoon we were free to go ashore and visit the old town of Gaios. Our awareness workshop was scheduled for the sunset. Thereafter we had a stunning dinner on board, all vegan and super delicious.

Questions & Answers

for Yoga-Sailors

Do I need prior sailing experience to join the trip? + -

No prior sailing experience is required! We welcome beginners and experienced sailors alike. Our trips include instruction and guidance for those new to sailing.

What if I get seasick? + -

It's not uncommon to experience seasickness, especially for beginners. We recommend bringing seasickness medication or patches if you are prone to motion sickness. Staying hydrated and looking at the horizon can also help. There are certain techniques to avoid sea sickness, your skipper will help you out. Also, after a day or two, your body gets used to the motion - then it feels funny to go ashore.

Can I participate in sailing activities? + -

Absolutely! Participants are encouraged to take an active role in sailing the yacht, including steering, hoisting sails, and navigating, depending on their comfort level.

What are the sleeping arrangements like? + -

Sleeping arrangements vary by yacht, but typically there will be shared cabins. But there is the option to book a double-bed cabin for yourself. You'll have a comfortable space to rest after a day of yoga and sailing.

What happens in case of bad weather? + -

Safety is our top priority. If severe weather is predicted, the itinerary may be adjusted, or the continuation of the trip may be postponed. Our team will keep participants informed and prioritise safety.

Can I bring my own gear? + -

You are welcome to bring personal gear, such as a life jacket or specialized sailing equipment. However, we will provide all essential safety gear for the trip.

For our Yoga and Sail Retreats we offer Yoga equipment, like blocks, belts and blankets. On request we offer yoga mats, but we recommend to bring your own for hygiene reasons.

How do we stay connected while on the trip? + -

While on the yacht, we recommend limiting phone usage to enjoy the experience fully. In general there is a good mobile signal on the seas. Some bays, facing the open sea or covered by cliffs may be with limited signal strength. The skippers connectivity goes beyond the usual mobile networks, due to to the equipment on board, like marine radios and rescue beacons.

Will I have the opportunity to explore ashore? + -

Yes! Many of our itineraries include stops at beautiful islands and coastal towns, providing opportunities for exploration, swimming, and sightseeing.

How are meals prepared without Chef or Host/ess? + -

In this case the crew is preparing the meals themselves. Usually everyday it is someone else’s turn to prepare a meal for the others. Better is to do it as a team with 2 or 3 persons. If someone is unsure about their cooking skills, they can arrange others to do it by taking over other duties from them in exchange. That's fair and keeps the morals good and everyone happy.

What if I don’t know how to swim? + -

While swimming is a fun part of sailing trips, it’s not mandatory. Life jackets will be available, and we ensure a safe environment on board. However, being comfortable in the water is a plus. Inform your skipper in any case, so special attention can be applied.

Is there a specific itinerary we will follow? + -

Yes, each trip has a planned itinerary that includes sailing routes, anchorages, and stops for exploration. However, the itinerary may be adjusted based on weather conditions and group preferences.

How many participants will be on the yacht? + -

The number of participants varies by trip, but we typically accommodate a comfortable group size to ensure everyone has a great experience. This allows for personalized attention from the instructors and ample space for activities.

Can I book a private cabin? + -

Private cabins are usually available depending on the yacht and trip capacity. Please inquire when booking.

What safety measures are in place during the trip? + -

Safety is our top priority. Each yacht is equipped with life jackets, first aid kits, and necessary safety equipment. Our experienced crew will conduct safety briefings before setting off, and we'll ensure everyone knows safety protocols.

Are there opportunities for swimming / snorkelling? + -

Definitely! Our itineraries include stops at beautiful bays and beaches where you can swim, snorkel, or simply relax on the shore. Snorkelling gear may be provided, or you can bring your own.

I have special needs or requirements, what to do? + -

If you have special needs or requirements, please let us know in advance. We strive to accommodate all guests and will do our best to provide the necessary support for a comfortable Yoga and Sail Retreat experience.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my trip? + -

We understand that plans can change. Please refer to our cancellation policy for details on rescheduling or canceling your trip. We recommend purchasing travel insurance for added coverage.

In our Ad-Repository section you'll find a lot of media - like banner, videos and brochures - that are free for you to use.

How do I fix a date and get commitment? + -

After getting the first responses, it comes handy to create a forum (e.g. messenger group in WhatsApp or similar) there you can coordinate polls on the journeys dates. After finding common ground with your group - we'll provide you with a particular and for you non-binding quotation. Then, by wiring the downpayment, you can create commitment by the individuals and avoid fluctuation.
